[SFI] Guild Wars & Clan Code
Ultimately we want [SFIG] to have the prestige that comes with being a
respectable active guild while having fun at the same time. Being a member
requires a commitment (being active) on the part of the member. These rules have
been set forth so that every member knows what is expected of them. First-time
offenders will usually have a friendly cyber sit down with an Officer. If the
first transgression is severe enough, it may be treated as a second offense.
Second offenders are typically brought to Division Leader for disciplinary
action. Repeated offenders will be demoted or their membership will be
terminated.
MULTI-CLAN MEMBERSHIP: [SFI] Clan Policy is One player, One membership. If you
play games [SFI] isn't involved in, then great, join another clan for that game.
Just don't join another clan that plays the same games we do as that could
become a conflict of interest. There are certain special circumstances
(grandfathering, for one) that this can be allowed in. Contact the GW
Division Leader or Eliteone, our Founder, for details.
FORUM USE: The clan provides a forum for the members to use and it is mandatory
that you check it on a regular basis. We hope you will also post now and then.
Due to some topics being open to the public, we insist that members use
discretion in their posts. No profanity, no personal insults, no Guild bashing,
no ongoing disputes, no off color comments… in other words, keep it clean and
considerate.
TRIAL PERIOD: We don't have tryouts because the goal of the Guild is to have fun
and to accept people of all skill levels but we do have a one month trial
period. This gives us a chance to get to know each other and determine if we're
a good fit. We want to have Good People here and the best way to find out if
someone works well within the group is for us to play together regularly. After
one month, if the current GW members approve and the 'rookie' is still
interested, then he/she would become an official full member of SFIG.
MEMBERSHIP FEE: In order to keep the forums, websites and voice programs running
SFI needs to collect a mandatory membership fee of $5.00 every other month from
Guild Wars members. All new recruits will have to pay the $5 fee the moment
their trial period ends and they become a full member of SFIG.
ATTENDANCE: You are expected to be online at least a couple times a week. If not
to play, at least get involved in the chat sessions that occur on the forum. We
want everyone to have fun with this, but you can't have fun if you're not
involved. We understand the different time zones, school, work and recreational
barriers we all have to overcome but it is important you make an effort to stay
involved with SFIG regularly.
ABSENCE: If you're going to offline for an extended period of time you should
you should Post in the Shore Leave section in the Forum with the particulars of
the situation and when you expect to return. Members must make every effort to
attend practice sessions, matches, or any Guild Battles when they are scheduled
in advance. Communication of your absence is essential for the clan to make
other arrangements
KICKING DUE TO INACTIVITY: Once any member hits the 4 week inactive mark on
the in-game Guild Roster they will be removed from the roster. Those people
who are removed for that reason will of course have another invitation ready for
them if and when they decide to join again and put some more commitment towards
being a part of the group. The only exemption to this policy is if you've posted
your need for a long time absence as mentioned above. At
times we schedule meetings or activities and ask our members to be there when
they are invited and at the appointed times. Always respond by E-mail, MSN,
Forum Post or PM if you cannot make a meeting. If we feel that you are avoiding
us or make it a habit never to responding to E-mails/Instant Messages etc. then
we will have to consider demotion in rank or termination. CLAN
TAGS: Guild Wars automatically assigns the [SFIG] tag after your name once
you've joined the guild. All characters created on the same account will also
have this tag and wear the
ARGUING: We will not tolerate arguing between members during a gaming session.
If you have an issue with another member you should bring it to the Division
Leader for mediation. We should never use harsh words; remember the goal is to
have fun.
PROFANITY: Will not be tolerated! No exceptions, no excuses. It doesn't matter
what filters Guild Wars has in place - you never know who has them turned on or
off. We desire to be known as a respectable Clan in the gaming community. Not
only do many dislike foul language but some members have children who should not
be subjected to the language, either on TS or in chat. Always be careful of what
you say or type.
ATTITUDE AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP: Online gaming can be a highly intense
experience and in the heat of the moment our emotions can get the better of us.
Nevertheless, while you are wearing the [SFIG] tag your behavior is a reflection
of the entire Clan, so please try to maintain your composure whether you're
winning or losing. Treat any battle opponent with the respect that they deserve.
Should your team score a victory, you may brag a little but don't pound it into
the losing team's faces. After finishing a quest with others congratulate them
on a job well done. Don't spread lies about other guilds or players. Always do
your best to maintain a positive attitude.
Also, acknowledging when someone kills you with a nice maneuver/skill or through
well-choreographed teamwork is a nice touch (after the battle, preferably). If
you are experiencing problems in the game you can mention them but please don't
complain! We can all have issues with the lag, the map, and the server, etc.
Think of the SFI reputation! You must abide by all the rules and regulations of
the Guild Wars terms of Use. Failure to follow conduct rules may result in your
termination. We want to maintain a very good relationship with all Guilds,
players, Guild Wars Network Staff and administrators.
OFFICER ABUSE: You are given Officer powers to recruit and assist members and to
keep order. You do not have the right to boss people around just because. Any
Officer abuse allegations will be handled seriously and investigated. If it
continues to happen your powers will be terminated.
TRAINING: Training sessions are yet to be determined. During training everyone
must pay attention to the Officer/Trainer and follow his directions. This means
no random emotes or actions while the Officer/Trainer is providing instructions
or setting offensive and defensive placement. Do Not Maintain Another
Conversation while tactics are being discussed and battle assignments are handed
out.
LEAVING THE GUILD: If you feel that you are ready to move on or just move out we
will understand and wish you the best. After all, it's a game and not to taken
too seriously. We don't want any messy breakups and we hope you stop by every
now and then to let us know what you have been up to. Please don't use the Forum
to post your resignation. Send it via e-mail to
sficlan@sficlan.net or send a PM to the
GW Division Leader and we'll post a goodbye message in the Forum for you. If you
put it on the Forum yourself it will be deleted. It's not that much to ask to
avoid the possible complications that could arise SFI
Clan reserves the right to ban anyone from the guild/forum who violates these
rules or the server rules without notice to the parties banned.
If you would like to become a member of [SFI] Guild Wars Division feel free to
contact one of the Officers either In-game or on the Forum. Registration on the
forum is mandatory for all Guild Members. Once registered, post in the Guild
Wars Recruiting section and a membership application will then be sent to you.
