Thanks for your interest in SFI Jedi. Please read the clan code below and visit the forum if you wish to apply
SFI Jedi Objectives:
This is what a SFI Jedi is devoted to, works for, and hopes to accomplish. 1. To help those in need. 2. To train the weak. 3. To promote and maintain peace and unity across the Jedi Gaming Community. 4. To make SFI Jedi a popular, honorable, and prosperous clan. 5. To defend the honor of the clan, against those who have made comments against any clan member/members/leaders/council that dishonors or disrespects that person/persons/Clan. SFI Jedi Core Rules: This applies to everyone: Council, Knight, and Apprentice. There is no exception. 1. Never fight in anger or for vengeance; just have fun. 2. Remain calm and patient at ALL times. Keep language clean. 3. Treat ALL members equal and with respect. 4. Fight with honor. 5. Be loyal to SFI and its members. 6. Follow game settings set by the host. Do not hack or cheat unless allowed (never allowed on SFI servers). 7. Use force based on your judgment. Natural Force (speed, sight, jump, and pull) has no limit. Defensive Force is often what a Jedi uses to protect him/herself from harm. Offensive Force is based on the situation and the Jedi knows when and how much is needed. 8. When under SFI name, try to use only one skin. 9. Use only known name known to SFI. 10. Reported failure to abide by these rules may lead to punishment, demotion, or discharge. Attendance: We expect you to be online at least a couple of times a week. If not to play, at least get involved in the chat sessions that usually occur on MSN and the forum almost every night. We want everyone to have fun with this, but you can not have fun if you are not involved. We understand the different time zones, school, work and recreational barriers with which we all have to deal. Absence: If you are going to be offline for an extended period of time you should post in the Shore Leave section of the forums with the particulars of the situation and when you expect to return. Should your internet connection go down or you have PC problems, email us from a public computer at school or a library to sficlan@sficlan.net As long as you keep us informed you will not be terminated for absence. Communication of your absence is essential for the clan to know who is still around. Although it is not mandatory, members are asked to make every effort to attend practice sessions, matches, or any league games. We ask that you try to attend at least one (1) training session per week. We want this to be an active clan. If you are not going to be able to make it to a training session then you should post it in the forums under the shore leave section. At times we schedule meetings as a group or on an individual basis. We ask members to be there when they are invited and at the appointed times. Respond by forum post if you cannot make a meeting. If you cannot make a meeting, we will inform you of anything you have missed. If we cannot contact you and we feel that you are avoiding us or make it a habit never to responding to E-mails/Instant Messages etc. then we will have to consider a suspension or termination. Multi Clan Membership: This has been a hot topic for a long time now, but [SFI] Clan Policy is one player, one membership. If you play games [SFI] is not involved in, then great, join another clan for that game. Just do not join another clan that plays the same games we do as that could become a conflict of interest. Forum Use: The clan provides a forum for the members to use and it is mandatory that you check it on a regular basis. We hope you will also post now and then. Due to some topics being open to the public, we insist that members use discretion in their posts. No profanity, no personal insults, no clan bashing, no ongoing disputes, no off color comments. In other words, keep it clean and considerate. Rank Structure: 1) Padawan Initiate: a newly recruited member who has passed his/her tryout and has been accepted into SFI. He/she is without a Jedi to train him/her and has a tag at the end of his/her name which designates such. Tag Example: {sfi}Kyle Katarn<i> He/she remains with the <i> tag at the end of his/her name until he finds a Jedi to train him/her. 2) Padawan: As previously stated, when a Padawan Initiate finds him/herself a trainer he/she may remove the <i> from his/her name. This of course makes him/her a full Padawan. Tag Example: {sfi}Kyle Katarn 3) Jedi: After being trained by another member in the SFI code and Jedi Academy game then passing a Council conducted trial, a Padawan is promoted to Jedi. A Jedi now has the ability to train another if he/she so chooses. Tag Example: {sfi}Kyle Katarn 4) Class Structure: This is a class system adopted from the Star Wars game Knights of the Old Republic. It was revealed in this game that a Jedi may choose his/her class. In short, it is one of three areas of expertise that the Jedi wishes to pursue. Those three areas are Guardian, Consular, and Sentinel. In SFI, after becoming a Jedi, that member now has the option to one of the three classes. He/she picks one and learns that area under a Master who is appointed to train any and all in that class. For each class, the Jedi is trained in more detail for that class and is under the Master’s tutoring until the Jedi passes: which is to be at the Master’s discretion. After a Jedi fulfills a class, he/she now has the option to choose one of the remaining two classes to learn. This continues until the Jedi learns and passes all three classes. Though this member is still of the Jedi rank, he/she has an adjustment in tags to signify which class he/she currently is under. After he/she passes that class he/she returns to his/her normal Jedi tag. A) Guardian: A Jedi choosing to learn the light saber aspect of Jedi Academy. He/she learns everything from basic technique to complex fighting styles. This helps improve his/her ability to play in tournaments as well as casual server play and practice. Tag Example: [sfi]Kyle Katarn (saber color – blue) B ) Consular: A Jedi choosing to learn the force aspect of Jedi Academy. He learns about all force powers; from the universal powers, to light, and to dark. Then works to find which side and combination of force powers best suits his needs and personality. Tag Example: [sfi]Kyle Katarn (saber color – green) C) Sentinel: A Jedi choosing to learn everything in Jedi Academy that is not directly related to light sabers or force powers. He learns how to use weapons, melee, vehicles, how to navigate through maps, and strategy. Tag Example: [sfi]Kyle Katarn (saber color – yellow) 5) Knight: After a Jedi learns and passes all three classes; he is now a full fledged Jedi Knight. As a Knight he may choose which class he would like to go back and assist. This means he may now work under the Master of that class and train any new Jedi looking to learn that class. The Knight may only assist in one class at a time and can only train those the Master allows him to. Tag Example: {sfi}Kyle Katarn 6) Master: Other than Council, this is the only rank in which a member is nominated and voted into. Once a Master, this Member has the option of being a class Master. He is no longer bound by the Master he once assisted and may take on his own Knight assistant(s) in order to instruct a class of his own if he so chooses. Tag Example: {sfi}Kyle Katarn 7) Council: The last and highest level a member can reach. Only with having received a majority vote of the active Council may a Master take his own seat in the Council. As a member of the Council he has full authority to administer tryouts to recruits, conduct Padawan trials, nominate and vote upon matters pertaining to the Jedi Division, and stand equal as a Division Leader. Tag Example: {sfi}Kyle Katarn For Masters: When selecting a class to instruct one must make sure that is an area in which one fully understands and can teach. Examples are as follows: Guardian – One must know all three saber forms (single, dual, and staff). Knowing a single saber does not mean only knowing the strong stance. One must know all three stances within single. At the same time one must know dual and staff. On top of that one must know the special moves and combinations that go along with each. Lack of knowledge in all areas is not requirement enough to instruct as a Guardian Master. Consular – One must know all areas of the force. Must be able to use all areas of the force which include selecting a side of the force and/or being able to act with only the universal powers. Must be able to assist a Jedi in finding which side of the force is best suited for that person. Then which powers on that side to use and at what levels in order to find a balance no matter who the opponent. Lack of knowledge in all areas is not requirement enough to instruct as a Consular Master. Sentinel – One must be able to teach all areas of the game not directly related to the light saber or the force. This means being able to use melee, weapons, vehicles, items, and map secrets to your advantage. One must be able to instruct in all forms of weaponry; not only one or two weapons. Lack of knowledge in all areas is not requirement enough to instruct as a Sentinel Master. Before a Master can formally take on a class to instruct he must first gain permission from a member of the Council to do so. For Knights: When one decides to instruct under a Master he does not have to be knowledgeable in all areas of that class. For example: if a Knight decides to assist a Guardian Master and knows only the staff light saber then that Knight may instruct in the use of a staff and only a staff. If by chance there is a Master who does not have the ability to instruct his own class, he may continue to assist under a Master the same way a Knight would. This continues until that person is knowledgeable enough to instruct his own class. When a Knight chooses to assist a Master, he must first ask that Master and gain permission to do so. SFI Jedi Council Rules: These rules apply to those on the Jedi High Council. 1. Work to promote, achieve, and hold objectives. 2. Promote and follow core rules religiously. 3. Lead by example. Be mature, patient, calm, diplomatic, and rational at all times. 4. Listen to other members and share their thoughts as well as your own with the rest of the Council. 5. Being on the Council grants you more responsibility. You may remove yourself from this Council at your own request. 6. Follow all of these rules as well as the rules of the Jedi Knight always. SFI Jedi Master Rules: 1. Same as Council just with less responsibility. SFI Jedi and Jedi Knight Rules: These rules apply to everyone except apprentices. 1. Follow core rules strictly. 2. Help to achieve and hold objectives. 3. Take a worthy apprentice to train into a full SFI Jedi member. 4. Train others as well as accept training from those stronger. 5. Voice opinions, problems, achievements, etc to the Council. SFI Jedi Padawan and Initiate rules: 1. Learn and follow core rules closely. 2. Learn objectives. 3. Train with your master, another SFI member or an approved Ally as often as possible (see below for requirements). Your Master will record training time. 3. Train with other members at every chance. Try to get a head start on your apprenticeship. 4. Do not just learn to fight; learn diplomacy as well. 5. Treat all masters with respect. 6. Strive for promotion and self-achievement. Advancement Requirements: Jedi Council member must be a master and have a majority vote of entire Council for acceptance. (*Note* There are twelve seats on council, but depending on size of clan, all need not be filled) Jedi Master must be at least a Jedi Knight and have trained more than one apprentice to a Jedi. He/she must also have been very active in the clan for a considerable amount of time. Jedi Enforcer: A position appointed by the Council to enforce the code. Jedi Knight: A Jedi who has passed all three classes. Jedi: A Padawan who has completed training and passed the trials. Padawan Training: Instead of focusing solely on light saber training, trainers should teach their Padawan everything they can about both Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy and Starfleet Intelligence. Rather than training in private, Padawans and trainers should train much like we see in the Star Wars "universe", where Padawans learn in the real world. With that in mind, training should consist of the following: 1- SFI in General a. What the ranks are and how they work b. Council: who they are and what they do c. Enforcers: who they are and what they do d. Using the forums e. How to download maps and skins f. Clan jobs g. How to donate to SFI server fund h. Clan practices 2- Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy in General a. Setting binds and using the console b. Downloading files and extracting them c. Using the mods d. Exploring maps and showing map secrets 3- Light saber Training a. Light saber(s) of Padawan's choice b. In and out of duels c. With and without force powers d. Vs other weapons e. In small battles and large free for alls 4- SFI Clan Code a. Trainers should go over each piece b. Occasional quizzes to reinforce knowledge 5- Diplomatic Contact a. Visiting other servers b. How to deal with lamers and trouble makers c. Partaking in clan matches 6- Team Speak a. Where and how to download it b. SFI's channel and password c. How to use it For all the things listed above, trainers should be with their Padawan every step of the way and should stand side by side in the true Master, Padawan fashion. Training should be an on going and constant thing. For example: during practices where there are teams, trainers and Padawans should always be on the same team OR if you and your Padawan are in the servers at the same time and you are not formally training, should still always be making mental notes of how your Padawan is doing and how his attitude is. You can and should make an entry out of what you see. All of this is something that is to be done over a long period of time all so the trainer can evaluate not only the skill of the Padawan but also the overall attitude of the Padawan as a member of SFI. Training should take 4-6 weeks. No less. SFI Reserves the right to ban anyone from the servers/forum who has caused issues over violation of these rules. We can ban from the Servers without notice to the parties involved. The party/parties involved can email the Jedi Council via this address sficlan@sficlan.net with a subject line of reasons to ask for unbanning and the council will discuss it. Any further questions can be directed to a council member or by e-mail to the Council at sficlan@sficlan.net
